Rise in Exports Via Gilan, Kish Customs

BANDAR ANZALI -- Gilan Province Customs Department observer Ardeshir Mohammadi declared here Saturday that over 551,539 tons of goods worth more than Rls289.4 billion were exported via Gilan Province customs in the past Iranian year (ending March 20).

Mohammadi told IRNA, "the exported goods included agricultural products such as dates, raisin, tomato paste, onion, potato, construction materials, handicrafts, industrial and mineral products and flowers which were exported from Bandar Anzali and Astara to the Central Asian states, Netherlands, Germany and Turkey.

He estimated the value of the exported goods at $164.9 million

He added, "also 7,778 tons of goods worth Rls25.93 billion equivalent to $14.775 million have also been exported through the provincial customs in the same period by passengers.

He concluded that a general revenue of over Rls307.638 billion was earned last year through export of goods from Gilan Province customs, marking a 129 percent boost.

Also the head of Kish Ports and Shipping Company Hekmatollah Mansouri said here Saturday, "the quantity of goods loaded and offloaded on Kish Island in the past Iranian year marked a 14 percent boost compared to the previous year.

Mansouri told IRNA, "some 532,161 tons of goods were either loaded or offloaded at Kish port which shows a boost of 72,730 tons compared to the previous year."

He added that the imported goods included building materials, oil products and commercial goods which were imported from Charak, Lengeh and Dubai.

He added that around 378,858 passengers either left Kish or arrived at the port which shows a boost of 17 percent compared to the previous year.

He said that over the same period over 4,756 vessels either left the port or arrived there which shows a six percent boost compared to the previous year.

According to the available statistics, the greatest traffic of vessels was observed in the last month of last Iranian year, while the greatest number of passengers either left the port or arrived there within the first month.
